An introduction to my career and life experience
Growing up on the Central Coast, NSW, I quickly fell in love with anything and everything to do with writing, literature, and documenting stories (fictional or otherwise). After graduating from high school, I relocated to the Gold Coast, QLD, where I studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from Griffith University. During this time, I interned with the Gold Coast Bulletin, Brisbane Times, and 4CRB 89. 3FM. I also studied abroad in South Korea for a semester at Korea University, where I was part of their media department. I also became the Inaugural Korea Coordinator for an online platform called Asia Options, a website dedicated to highlighting opportunities for Australians throughout Asia.
Shortly after graduation, I was hired by Localsearch, a company that provides advertising and digital marketing services to small to medium businesses throughout regional areas in Australia. For three and a half years, I worked as a Brand Content Writer, producing blog posts, client listing content, and website content. I mentored and trained numerous staff members in the content department, and I also became part of an inaugural team during the company’s restructuring.
However, I was in my mid-twenties and yearned for a change. So, I packed up my life and moved to South Korea, where I lived just outside of Seoul and worked as an English Instructor at an after-school educational facility. For six years, I worked with primary and high school students to enhance their essay writing and public speaking skills. I played a key role in developing several programs, which I then managed and taught to new foreign workers during my tenure. In 2023, I was diagnosed with melanoma and started a long two-year process which resulted in exiting from my teaching position and life in South Korea.
With new priorities, I relocated to my hometown on the Central Coast and took a much-needed sabbatical from work to focus on my health. It also allowed me to spend time on writing projects that I truly felt passionate about. This led me to start writing with a truly inspirational group of young women on the digital platform The Girls Who Eat, Breathe and Dream Motorsport. My goal moving forward is to offer my writing and language expertise to multiple different industries that are close to my heart.
